Baptismal Preparation

Congratulations on the decision to Baptize your child! We want to support you in the celebration of this incredible Sacrament.

As part of the process, we require a copy of your child's birth certificate, and a Baptismal registration form. The Baptismal Registration form can be picked up in our Parish Offices, but is also available below. If you are unable to supply a birth certificate, you may discuss alternate options when you are contacted by the parish. This information can be returned to the Parish Office, or sent electronically to Lila Ruiz,

About Baptism at Sacred Heart

First, please feel free to watch the accompanying video of Bishop Barron speaking on the Sacrament of Baptism.

Second, Sacred Heart does require a short Baptismal Preparation Program. A child is baptized into a faith community and you, the family, are the first teachers of your child. You, assisted by your child's godparents, are the ones responsible for raising your child in the faith. Therefore, it is important to the parish that parents (and, if possible, the godparents) receive catechesis before your child is Baptized, so that you are better equipped to fulfill your Baptismal promises of fostering the faith in your little one.

Third, at Sacred Heart we Baptize people of all ages. Children who are younger than 7 years-old do not attend religious education in preparation of their Baptism. Children 7 years-old and up are requested to attend Religious Education in preparation of their Baptism.

"Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy spirit."

-Matthew 28:19
